Whenever possible, I quote my writing and editing services on a "completed project" basis, so there is no ambiguity. And because I like repeat business, I tend to estimate on the conservative side.
For copywriting projects where the scope is difficult to define, I bill at an hourly rate or charge a monthly retainer.
